At Boulder Shack, we love helping people discover the fun of bouldering, whether you’re totally new or keen to dive deeper into the climbing world. We offer two types of sessions to get you started: Inductions and Have A Go Sessions. But what’s the difference? Let’s break it down!

Have A Go Session:

Perfect for children and families that are curious about climbing, a Have A Go session is a fun and relaxed introduction to the world of bouldering, with our super-friendly instructors. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Duration: One hour
  • Who’s it for?: Ideal for those who want to climb as a family or have younger children. There are private Have a Go sessions for the family, or Have a Go sessions for children 6-12 years old.
  • What happens?: Our experienced instructors will guide you through basic techniques, safety tips, and set fun climbing challenges to make sure you have a great time on the walls.
  • Experience needed: Absolutely none. This is all about giving it a go without any pressure!

Induction Session:

If you’re feeling a bit rusty, or haven’t climbed before – an induction session is the perfect thing for you! Our experienced instructors will give you all the basics and confidence to come back and climb safely on your own.

  • Duration: 25 minutes
  • Who’s it for?: Anyone looking to get into bouldering and climb independently. Ideal for adults and junior climbers.
  • What happens?: You’ll learn key safety tips, warm-up exercises, climbing techniques, and the dos and don’ts of bouldering. After this, you’ll be all set to climb solo whenever you want!
  • Next steps: Once you’ve completed your Induction, you’re free to come and climb independently whenever you like!*

Which One Should You Choose?

If you have a young family and they want to get into bouldering on their own, or with you as a family, the Have a Go Session is ideal.

For older children and adults, wanting to get into bouldering (or back into it), sign up for an Induction Session.
